Member of Parliament B.Y. Raghavendra, who represents Shivamogga, said that the efforts to continue the flight services of Indigo Airlines connecting Shivamogga and Bengaluru after May were on.

Speaking to press persons in Shivamogga on Tuesday, Mr. Raghavendra said that Indigo Airlines had informed the Airport Authority of India that it could not continue its flight services between Bengaluru and Shivamogga from May owing to the shortage of pilots and aircraft, following the new mandatory flying regulations.

“I spoke to the officials concerned at Indigo Airlines, including the chairman. I have requested him to continue the services, as there is considerable demand for the route. I am hopeful that the company takes a positive decision and continues the services,” he stated.

Further, he made it clear that the route connecting Bengaluru and Shivamogga was not under the UDAAN scheme. However, the State government had been providing financial assistance for the route so that the passengers could get tickets at affordable rates. “The financial assistance was offered by the BJP government led by B.S. Yediyurappa, and the current government has continued the same,” he added.
