The Tamil Nadu police have arrested a Sri Lankan national who allegedly tried to hide at the Mandapam refugee camp in Ramanathapuram district. Acting on information that Ajeeban, 26, of Kudathanai in Sri Lanka, was found loitering near the camp for Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in Mandapam, the ‘Q’ Branch CID apprehended him on Friday. Ajeeban informed investigators that he was cheated by Ravanan, a travel agent in Sri Lanka, who promised to get him a fake passport for travel from Nepal to Italy. Only after reaching Nepal did Ajeeban realise that he was cheated. He then entered India and took different trains to reach Rameswaram. Further investigation is on, police sources said.
