A Booth Level Officer (BLO) who went missing from his house in Kasaragod, Kerala, on Saturday morning was later found dead in a river.

The deceased has been identified as Savad (32), a native of Mogral Puthur and a teacher at Cherkala Government Higher Secondary School. He was serving as the BLO for Booth No 1 in Mogral Puthur.

According to relatives, Savad was reported missing around 7 a.m. on Saturday. Concerned family members, along with neighbours and friends, launched a search.

Around 9 a.m. he was found in the river at Mogral Kadavu. Local residents pulled him out and rushed him to the Kasaragod General hospital, where he was declared dead despite emergency treatment.

His two-wheeler was later found parked near the Mogral bridge.

The family, meanwhile, alleged election-related work pressure for his death.

The police said an investigation has been launched to ascertain the cause of death. More details are expected after inquest and postmortem examination.
