Telangana government is expecting that as many as eight crore devotees will take the holy dip during the sacred Godavari Pushkaralu, which is celebrated once every 12 years.

Godavari Pushkaralu will be held in Telangana from June 26, 2027 to July 7, 2027, for which the government has earmarked ₹500 crore in the budget. Announcing allocation of ₹500 crore in the budget, the Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday said the government is also taking steps to use modern technology for convenient darshan, security, and crowd management for devotees.

The State government is making preparations to conduct the Pushkaralu on a prestigious scale, in a manner that reflects Telangana’s culture, on the lines of the Kumbh Mela. To oversee the arrangements for the conduct of the Pushkaralu and related infrastructure development such as road widening, construction of new ghats, and temple development, the government has constituted a special Cabinet Sub-Committee under the leadership of Minister for Industries D. Sridhar Babu.

Temple development

The government is taking special measures to preserve Telangana’s cultural and spiritual heritage. For the development of spiritual tourism in the State and for providing better facilities to devotees, we are giving special attention and adequate funds for the development of temples such as Bhadrachalam, Dharmapuri, Vemulawada, and Kaleshwaram. The famous Rajanna Temple is being developed into a full-fledged spiritual centre, he added.
