The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) legislators, led by its working president K.T. Rama Rao and Deputy Floor Leader of the party in the Assembly T. Harish Rao staged a protest at the Gun Park in front of the Assembly Buildings before the presentation of the budget for 2026-27 by the government on Friday (March 20, 2026).

Telangana Budget 2026-27 updates

They displayed placards in the name of “debt cards” with slogans on the unkept promises made as part of the Six Guarantees and a large number of other promises made by the Congress party before the 2023 Assembly elections. They sought to know when the government would pay ₹54,000 due to the differently-abled persons, unemployment allowance, when two-lakh jobs would be filled and ₹24,000 due to auto-drivers.

Further, they sought to know when the government would clear ₹54,000 dues to every aged person getting social security ‘Aasara’ pension, as the Congress had promised to enhance it from ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 per month. They also demanded that the government provide legislation backing the Six Guarantees as promised. Later, they proceeded to the Assembly with the placards.

Speaking there, Mr. Rama Rao reminded the ruling party that it had promised to implement and fulfil all the six guarantees within three months of coming to power by had failed to keep the word though it was presenting its third budget.

He sought to know why the government was not implementing the promise to give a monthly assistance of ₹2,500 per month to women, ₹6,000 per month pension to differently-abled persons, ₹15,000 per acre Rythu Bharosa assistance to farmers and filling 2 lakh jobs every year.
