Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will unveil the statue of Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu in Amaravati on Monday as part of the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of the freedom fighter.

According to officials, the Chief Minister will unveil the 58-foot bronze statue of Potti Sriramulu at Shakhamuru Park in Amaravati at 11.15 a.m. The statue has been installed as part of a memorial project being developed on 6.80 acres of land at an estimated cost of ₹150 crore.

The first phase of the project has been completed, with the Potti Sriramulu Memorial Trust finishing the construction of the statue in a record time of six months. Around 26 tonnes of bronze and 42 tonnes of iron were used in building the statue.

In the second phase, the authorities plan to construct a museum, photo gallery, auditorium and a skill development centre at the memorial complex.

The memorial is being developed to commemorate the sacrifice of Potti Sriramulu, who undertook a 58-day fast-unto-death demanding a separate State for Telugu people, which eventually led to the formation of Andhra State.

Later in the evening, the Chief Minister will travel to Vijayawada and participate in an Iftar dinner organised by the State government at 5.40 p.m. on the occasion of the holy month of Ramzan. During the event, he will extend greetings to members of the Muslim community.
