Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta presented the DG’s Disc Awards to two head constables and a police constable at the Andhra Pradesh Police Headquarters in Mangalagiri on Friday.

The awardees were M. Krishna Kumar, police constable in the City Task Force in Vijayawada, M.V. Saradhi Naik, head constable attached to Krishnalanka police station, and P. Manohar, head constable working with the Elite Anti Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE).

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said the three personnel displayed courage while arresting K. Murali of Warangal, who attempted to open fire on the police team during Operation Vajra Prahar in Vijayawada on March 7.

The accused tried to fire at the police when teams from EAGLE and the NTR police were searching a hotel room as part of Operation Vajra Prahar and attempted to flee from the spot.

However, the weapon failed to fire as the trigger got stuck. The three constables chased the accused and apprehended him, the DGP said, appreciating the personnel for their daring operation.

Director General of Police of the A. P. State Level Police Recruitment Board Rajiv Kumar Meena, CID Director General Ravi Shankar Ayyanar, Additional Director General of Police for law and order N. Madhusudhan Reddy, EAGLE head Ake Ravi Krishna and other senior officers were present.
