The Malappuram district committee of Newspaper Agents’ Association staged a dharna in front of the collectorate here on Tuesday against the alleged indifference of the district administration and the police towards increasing stray dog menace in the State.

Inaugurating the dharna, association State president P.K. Sattar said that stray dog menace had grown so much so that newspaper distribution had become an extremely difficult job.

He added that stray dogs were not only attacking and chasing away those involved in distribution, but also tearing apart newspaper bundles left by vehicles of printing units.

Association district president Raji Nilambur presided. State secretary C.P. Abdul Wahab delivered the keynote address. Prohibition Committee State president Eezhachaery Kunhikrishnan and general secretary Vincent Maliyekkal spoke.
