The National Service Scheme (NSS), SRIT, in coordination with NSS, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTU-A) and MYBharat of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organised a one-week NSS special camp at Iruvendula village in Singanamala Block.

The valedictory session of the seven-day camp was attended by JNTU-A NSS Coordinator G. Mamatha, MYBharat Representative and National Youth Awardee Bisathi Bharath, President of India awardee Kuruba Jaya Maruthi, SRIT faculty members and NSS programme officers.

During the camp, NSS volunteers actively engaged in several community development activities, including a household literacy survey, awareness programmes on cyber safety, rainwater harvesting, self-employment opportunities, and women welfare schemes.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Mamatha emphasised that NSS volunteers act as the social defense of the nation, playing a vital role in saving thousands of lives every year through voluntary blood donation and community service, while also promoting ethical and moral values among students. She said that NSS volunteers should focus more on ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bisathi Bharath highlighted that MYBharat provides numerous opportunities for youth to contribute towards nation-building and encouraged young people to actively utilise this government platform and take the Centre’s flagship programmes to every rural household.

The camp concluded with a renewed commitment from the volunteers to serve society and contribute towards building a strong and developed India by 2047.
