Amid long queues outside gas agencies fearing an LPG shortage in some districts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday (March 11, 2026) due to impact of conflict in West Asia, the Congress accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of failing to check black marketing alleging just as the BJP abandoned the country’s people to die during the COVID-19 pandemic, the same scenario is being repeated today in the name of gas supply, whether domestic or commercial, there are shortages everywhere.

“During my visit to Sant Kabir Nagar, I witnessed the suffering of the people—people standing in queues since midnight, yet facing a shortage of gas cylinders. Just as the BJP abandoned the country to die during the COVID-19 pandemic, the same scenario is being repeated today in the name of gas supply. Whether domestic or commercial, there are shortages everywhere. Is this the BJP’s “Sabka Saath” (together with all)? When preparations were needed to control, the government was asleep. Today, the public has once again been left to fend for itself. The supply chain is in shambles, and the government is evading accountability,” said Ajay Rai, President, Uttar Pradesh Congress unit.

Amid allegations, videos of long queues from gas stations in Shravasti went viral with a woman faints. “Woman faints for want of cylinder, is this the truth of ‘Ujjwala’. These images from Shravasti are a slap in the face to the government’s claims of providing gas to every household. It’s shameful that today, our mothers and sisters are forced to jostle in long lines, hungry and thirsty, for a single cylinder,” wrote a user on X.

“A woman collapsing and fainting in line reveals the complete breakdown of the government’s distribution system, and the value of public life is now a pittance. Can the government, which is using war and crisis as excuses to hide its failures, hear the cries of this helpless woman. The sad reality is the government has failed on all fronts,” added Mr. Rai.
