Emphasising the importance of voting and achieving 100% voter turnout in the upcoming Assembly election, an awareness programme was held at the Cuddalore Collectorate on Wednesday.

The campaign organised under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative targeted achieving 100% voter turnout in the upcoming elections through raising awareness on voter rights, and responsibility of electoral participation.

District Election Officer and Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar launched the programme.

As part of the awareness programme, government officials took a pledge that they would cast their vote in the upcoming elections. The main objective was to create awareness among the public and achieve 100% voter turnout in the district.

Mr. Kumar said that various events, including signature campaigns, awareness rallies, were launched as part of the awareness initiative in all the nine Assembly segments in the district. ‘Selfie Points’ have been installed with a message to the voters, the Collector said.

He urged first time voters, who are turning 18 to register for voting and fulfil their democratic duty.
