Justice N. Tukaramji of the Telangana High Court directed the Registry to place before the bench of Chief Justice of the HC the writ petition filed by MLC Chintapandu Naveen alias Teenmaar Mallanna seeking a direction to transfer all cases registered against him in different parts of the State to the Special Court trying cases against public representatives.

The judge also gave exemption to Teenmaar Mallanna from appearance before the different courts for eight weeks. The MLC filed the writ petition stating several criminal cases were registered against him in different parts of the State. He sought a direction to the government to transfer all the cases pending against him for trial to the designated special court for MLAs and MPs.

Government Pleader for Home Mahesh Raje informed the bench that the Supreme Court in its order in a plea by Ashwini Kumary Upadhyay stated that cases registered against MLAs and MPs should be tried and disposed of expeditiously by special courts. The Government Pleader maintained that the Supreme Court categorically stated cases against MLAs and MPs. The order did not specifically mention about the cases registered against MLCs.

But the MLC’s counsel contended that MLCs should also be treated on par with MLAs and the cases booked against him required to be transferred to the designated court for MLAs and MPs for fair and speedy trial.
