Senior journalists will interact with students during the Media Fest 2026 in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Karnatak University in Dharwad on Monday and Tuesday.
Vice-Chancellor A.M. Khan will inaugurate the event.
Commissioner, Department of Information and Public Relations, Hemant Nimbalkar will be the chief guest.
The event will be held at the Kanaka Studies Chair Hall on the university campus.
The inaugural programme will be held on Monday at 10.30 a.m.
As part of the festival, competitions for journalism students from Dharwad and Belagavi districts will be conducted from 10 a.m. on Monday.
Events include script writing, short interview, walk-through and PTC, radio jockey presentation, reels creation and mobile journalism (MoJo).
Winners will receive cash prizes and certificates.
A one-day seminar will be held on Tuesday, where a former professor A.S. Balasubramanya will speak on the credibility of AI-based content in journalism, followed by journalist Subhash Hugar on new technologies in journalism.
The valedictory and prize distribution ceremony will take place on Tuesday at 2.30 p.m.
DDWJU president Bandu Kulkarni will be the chief guest, said a release.
