Cuddalore Collector holds meeting on poll preparedness

District Election Officer and Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar on Saturday chaired a meeting with officials appointed to various teams in view of the upcoming Assembly elections.

According to an official press note, a training session was conducted for officials assigned to the Flying Squad, Static Surveillance Team and Video Surveillance Team as advised by the Election Commission of India.

The officials were given training on election-related preparatory works, their responsibilities and the measures to be undertaken during the poll process. The duties to be performed for the forthcoming Assembly elections, measures that need to be taken up to check illegal transportation of cash and gift items in the run up to the election by carrying out vehicle checks at the different locations, videographing of the checks, documentation procedures, and the ways to deal with violation of Model Code of Conduct during election were explained in detail to the team members.

Officials also discussed scrutiny of high-value bank transactions and submission of daily reports to the Expenditure Monitoring Committee.

Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar who presided over the meeting explained in detail to the police personnel on the need to adhere to the Election Commission instructions.
