The CPI(M) expelled dissident and former MLA P.K. Sasi from the party following his appearance in a meeting of dissidents here on Thursday (March 5, 2026). Mr. Sasi was keeping a distance with the party after he faced demotion from the district committee to branch level.

CPI(M) district secretary E.N. Suresh Kumar announced Mr. Sasi’s expulsion from the party.

Leadership does not care for the cadres: Sasi

Inaugurating the convention of CPI(M) dissidents in Palakkad, Mr. Sasi said that a spirit smuggler was sitting in the party secretary’s chair. He said when Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was the party’s State secretary, he had held the party workers together. But today, he said, the party leadership does not care for the cadres.

Mr. Sasi has reportedly made a covert deal with the United Democratic Front (UDF) to contest the Assembly election from Ottapalam as an independent candidate.
