The Thrissur Municipal Corporation on Wednesday conducted the ‘Talk to Mayor’ fast-track grievance redressal Adalat, announced in the 2026-27 Budget, bringing together the entire civic machinery to address pending and new public complaints under one roof.

Around 250 complainants were heard directly during the day-long session. Several grievances that had remained unresolved for years across different offices were taken up for immediate legal and administrative action. The initiative ensured coordinated functioning of all departments to facilitate swift decisions and solutions.

The first complaint at the adalat was submitted by former Indian football team captain and Padma awardee I.M. Vijayan. He urged that the Municipal Stadium should remain under the ownership of the Corporation. The Mayor intervened promptly and assured that the stadium would remain with the Corporation, thereby resolving the complaint on the spot.

Once in three months

Mayor Niji Justin stated that issues requiring council approval would be placed before the council without delay for expedited decisions. She added that suggestions and feedback received through the adalat would help shape future policy directions, and special focus would be given to areas generating a higher number of complaints. The Corporation also plans to organise such grievance redressal adalats once every three months.

The adalat, held at Thrissur Town Hall, was inaugurated by Dr. Justin, with Deputy Mayor A. Prasad presiding. On the occasion, the logo of the Corporation’s Annual Plan ‘Karmadyuthi 2026–27’ was unveiled by Mr. Vijayan. The adalat commenced at 9 a.m. and continued until 6.30 p.m.
