SASTRA Deemed University students S. Santhameena, R. Sanchay, and S. Aboorva won the fourth annual edition of the National Tamil Trial Advocacy competition hosted by Tamil Nadu National Law University in Tiruchi this week while Theni Government Law College team members M. Bhavadharani, M. Mohamed Asmath, and N. Subha secured the second place.

K. Praveen of Government Law College, Dharmapuri, and D. Vigneshwaran of School of Excellence in Law, Chennai, won the Best Advocate prizes.

According to an official press release on Monday, the competition was held under the auspices of TNNLU’s Trial Advocacy Committee and is aimed at strengthening the practical dimensions of legal education.

The competition, which witnessed the participation of 22 teams from various law colleges, was inaugurated on Saturday by advocates Nagapriya and Karthik Kanna.

Two preliminary rounds were conducted to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of all participating teams. Special emphasis was on the participants’ knowledge and practical application of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The top eight teams were selected for the quarter-finals. The final round was held on March 1, and was adjudicated by R. Malathi, District Judge, Tiruchengode; Prof. S. M. Balakrishnan, TNNLU Registrar, and senior advocate A. Ramesh.
