Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy handed over compensation cheques to the families of 44 Hyderabad residents who were killed in a bus accident near Madina in Saudi Arabia last year.

The Chief Minister gave ₹5 lakh each to the families of the 44 victims, who were reportedly charred to death in the accident on November 17, 2025. Additionally, ₹3 lakh was sanctioned to a person who sustained injuries in the mishap.

The compensation was distributed at the Secretariat on Saturday, in the presence of Minority Welfare Minister Azharuddin, Government Adviser Mohd. Shabbir Ali, Chief Minister’s Adviser Vem Narender Reddy, CMO OSD Vemula Srinivasulu, Nampally MLA Mohammed Majid Hussain, and Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGMREIS) vice-chairman Faheem Qureshi.

Mr. Reddy said that he immediately spoke to the Union government upon learning about the accident to coordinate relief measures. He also deputed Mr. Azharuddin to Madina to oversee assistance to the affected families.

“We took a Cabinet decision to provide ₹5 lakh compensation to each of the bereaved families,” he said.

He pointed out that governments typically do not provide compensation for accidents occurring outside the country. “However, after seeing the plight of the families, we decided to extend support on humanitarian grounds,” he stated.

Noting that the Ramzan month is holy and special for Muslims, he called for unity and harmony. “Let us all move forward together,” he said.

Mr. Reddy also mentioned that since 2009, he has been facilitating the annual Haj pilgrimage for one person from each mandal in his Kodangal constituency, underscoring his continued engagement with the community.
