Former Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Anakapalli district president, Gudivada Amarnath on Friday alleged a major land scam involving nearly ₹100 crore worth of Endowments Department land in Anakapalli district and demanded a CBI inquiry into the role of the District Collector.

Addressing the media at the YSRCP office, Mr. Amarnath, alleged that the District Collector took a highly controversial decision to transfer valuable Endowments Department land, belonging to Kanyaka Parameswari Temple in the heart of Anakapalli town, to private individuals. He informed that in 1915, a woman named D. Kamamma donated 2.49 acres of land for a ‘Brahmin Satram.’ In 1971, the land came under the control of the Endowments Department. However, on September 21, 2025, the District Collector reportedly submitted a report stating that the land was private property and not Endowments land, the YSRCP leader alleged.

Mr. Amarnath said that the Collector does not have the authority to transfer Endowments land to private individuals. Such decisions can only be taken with the approval of the Endowments Commissioner. He further alleged that the Collector wrote to the District Registrar to remove the land from the prohibited list (22-A category), claiming it was mistakenly included. He also demanded a CBI probe into all revenue decisions taken by the Collector over the past 20 months.

Former MLA, Karanam Dharmasri said it was shocking that a Collector, who should protect government assets is allegedly facilitating irregularities. He also questioned the silence of the Revenue Minister and ruling party leaders.
