PMK founder S. Ramadoss has appealed to Election Commission of India to freeze the “Mango” symbol of the Pattali Makkal Katchi and direct both the factions (the other headed by his estranged son Anbumani) to contest the 2026 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and Pudhucherry in their own symbols.

In a letter to ECI, Dr. Ramadoss said that Election Commission of India has no authority “to recognise the tenure of the office bearers as it is only a political party without recognition”.

“The documents dated December 4, 2023 and September 9, 2025, are basically baseless and an illegality cannot be legalised against the constitution of the party which empowers Dr. Ramadoss as the deciding authority to have political alliance and performing the duties of signing forms A and B of the candidates contesting in General elections of 2026,” he said.

The PMK leader urged the ECI to expedite and communicate the freezing “as there are lot of law and order problems among the leaders and cadres and also confusion prevails on the mind of the voters” for having a free and fair elections.
