Several Congress offices in Kannur district of Kerala were targeted in separate incidents of violence following the KSU protest against Health Minister Veena George, who was allegedly injured during the demonstration, on Wednesday and early Thursday.

In Malur, window panes of the Congress office at Pattari were smashed.

The attack occurred in the aftermath of the protest in which the Minister reportedly sustained injuries to her neck and hand. She cancelled her scheduled engagement and was admitted to Kannur district hospital. Later, based on the recommendation of the medical board advising further evaluation and MRI scanning to ascertain the extent of the injury, she was shifted to the Kannur Government Medical College Hospital.

In another incident, the Congress mandalam committee office at Paral in Kalil Thazhae, Kodiyeri, in Kannur was set on fire around midnight.

At Kolassery in Thalassery, a wreath was found placed in front of the Congress office.

KPCC chief condemns attacks

Earlier, KPCC president Sunny Joseph condemned the attempts across the State to vandalise Congress flagpoles and campaign boards and to attack party offices, including the Kannur DCC office. “The Congress will not remain a silent spectator to such acts”, he said.
