HYDERABAD

Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, on Tuesday, claimed that the Revanth Reddy Government lacked stability, alleging that internal dissension in the ruling party was growing. “The Chief Minister has no funds for promised guarantees but wants to please the high command in Delhi,” he charged.

Speaking to the media after offering prayers at the Bhagyalakshmi Temple in Charminar and the Mahankali Temple at Lal Darwaza, accompanied by newly elected corporators of the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, Mr. Sanjay Kumar said several Congress MLAs were unhappy about not receiving constituency development funds and openly talking about corruption in the government.

According to him, legislators from two districts were “engaging in dissident activities”. The BJP was not seeking the ouster of the government but wanted “democratic governance”. Despite alleged efforts by the Congress, Majlis and BRS, the BJP was able to get its candidate elected as Mayor in Karimnagar, he said, attributing this to a revolt among BRS corporators who “independently supported the BJP nominee”.

The Minister said the party was poised to perform well in municipal corporation elections and demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy disclose details of funds released for infrastructure projects in the GHMC limits.

Mr. Sanjay Kumar alleged that while assets of MIM leaders were increasing, living conditions in the Old City remained unchanged. The BJP’s campaign for the GHMC elections would focus on the twin themes of “development and Hindutva”.

Probe demanded

In a separate press conference at Nagarkurnool, Telangana BJP chief N. Ramchander Rao demanded an inquiry into the death of a two-month-old infant who died in an attack on a family belonging to a weaker section during the ‘Mallanna Jatara’ at Kummera village.

Mr. Rao, who met the grieving parents, urged the government to ensure immediate justice and announce ex-gratia for the family. He alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Home portfolio, had “lost grip over the administration”.
