Stating that the teaser and the trailer of the film The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond “wrongly portrays” the people of Kerala, the Kerala High Court on Tuesday (February 24, 2026) sought steps to screen the film before it on Wednesday.

The movie has been slated for release on February 27, 2026.

“The people of Kerala live in harmony and uphold secularism. But the film portrays them wrongly,” a Bench of Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas observed, while hearing pleas that challenged the granting of censor certificate to the film.

“The apprehensions of the people of the State cannot be ignored, since the filmmakers, who say that it features a pan-India story, have used Kerala in the title. This could lead to communal tensions,” it said.

The High Court went on to direct the Centre to “come up with instructions”, in the post-lunch session.
