The kumbabhishekam of the famous Sri Raveeswarar Temple in Vyasarpadi  was held on Sunday morning with thousands of devotees witnessing the event.

The temple, which got flooded every monsoon, was lifted from the ground level and now stands at 7.2 ft above the road. It used to be 4 ft. below the road level. The shrines of Sri Raveeswarar and Sri Maragathambal were lifted up, along with the Maha Mandapam and Ardha Mandapam, as one structure with an area of 2,150 sq. ft. The majestic gopuram was also raised by 6.3 ft using jacks.

The previous kumbabhishekam was held on February 22, 2013. The balalayam for the consecration was done on October 7, 2024.

The sthala vriksham, a vanni tree has been safely placed inside a wooden covering. The temple also has a younger vanni tree. The temple, where legend has it that Lord Surya is believed to have worshipped Lord Shiva in the form of a Lingam made of vanni wood and bathed in the temple tank, was renovated during the later Chola period.

The temple tank, the Surya Theertham, was renovated last year.

The temple also has shrines for Sundara Vinayakar, Saint Vallalar, Saint Vyasar, Munai Kaatha Perumal, Subramanya along with Valli and Devayanai, Iyyappan, Kaala Bhairavar, Navagraham, Anjaneyar, and 65 Nayanamars.
