Revenue Minister K. Rajan has said that intense efforts have been under way to complete land conversion processes in a transparent and timely manner in the State. Special adalats will be held in October, he said while presiding over Palakkad district revenue assembly held in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.

Mr. Rajan pointed out that Palakkad district made huge strides in pattaya distribution. A total of 28,994 pattayas were distributed in the district in the last four years.

District Collector M.S. Madhavikutty reported the district’s activities. Assembly members from the district presented the general issues concerning the people of their respective constituencies.

Excise and Local Self-Governments Minister M.B. Rajesh, who represents the Thrithala Assembly constituency, said that Thrithala can be declared a fully digitally resurveyed constituency once the final steps are taken and the 9(2) notification is issued.

He demanded that land acquisition for development projects should be expedited and completed without any further delay.

Power Minister K. Krishnankutty, who represents the Chittur Assembly constituency bordering Tamil Nadu, brought up the issue of caste certificates for several families who had previously lived in Tamil Nadu before settling in Kerala. Mr. Krishnankutty pointed out the challenges such families face.

The Revenue Minister said that it was an issue affecting all the districts sharing the State borders. The Revenue Department has the authority to issue certificates as per rules, he said.

Mr. Rajan said that the Chief Minister had convened a meeting to discuss the matter, and decided to send once again a letter to the Central government seeking a solution. He added that the decisions related to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe departments on certain matters would pave the way for a solution.

MLAs K.D. Prasenan (Alathur), K. Babu (Nenmara), N. Shamsudheen (Mannarkkad), A. Prabhakaran (Malampuzha), P. Mammikutty (Shoranur), Mohammed Muhsin (Pattambi), K. Premkumar (Ottappalam), and P.P. Sumod (Tarur) took part in the assembly.

Revenue and Disaster Management Secretary M.G. Rajamanikyam, Land Revenue Commissioner Jeevan Babu K., Revenue Additional Secretary A. Geeta, Survey and Land Records Department director Seeram Sambasiva Rao and Land Revenue Joint Commissioner K. Meera attended the meeting.
