Mild tension prevailed at Amberpet on Thursday (February 19, 2026) night after participants in a Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti procession raised slogans near a place of worship where Taraweeh prayers were underway.

The incident was reported after 10 p.m. when a group taking part in the procession allegedly shouted slogans in front of the Jamia Masjid while prayers were being conducted inside.

According to an officer from the Amberpet police, the issue primarily related to noise levels. He stated that the sound from the mosque was above the prescribed limits, following which some members of the procession objected. Police personnel present at the spot intervened immediately and brought the situation under control, asking those concerned to reduce the sound.

Videos circulating on social media showed police personnel managing members of both groups and preventing the situation from escalating.

Police said the situation was quickly defused and normalcy restored. No detentions were made and no case has been registered in connection with the incident.
