A 15-year-old Class IX student was found dead in a well on the premises of Don Bosco School near Babalad village on the outskirts of Kalaburagi city on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Guru Nagappa, a resident of Sasargaon village in Chincholi taluk.

He was reported missing from the school three days ago. But he was found dead in the well situated on the school premises on Tuesday.

Reacting to the incident, Police Commissioner S.D. Sharanappa said that preliminary information indicated that two days ago the student took a bike from the school and accidentally collided with a wall, causing damage.

He was reportedly forced to bear the repair cost which may have led him to take his own life.

The officer said that a case has been registered. Thorough investigation will be conducted to ascertain the reason behind his death, he added.
