At least five units were deployed to extinguish the fire. The staff told the media that they first noticed smoke coming out of the godown on the first floor, and subsequently, all the staff and the shoppers were shifted to safer places. Traffic on the busy road was regulated. Vehicles parked on nearby Annie Hall Road were forcibly pushed to other places to make way for the fire engines.
