The Kochi City police have registered 851 cases of alleged traffic rule violations by autorickshaw drivers over the past one and a half months as part of an ongoing special enforcement drive. The cases under the Motor Vehicles Act were registered between January 1 and February 15, the police said in a release on Monday (February 16, 2026).

Major violations detected during the drive included obstructive parking, charging excess fares, zebra crossing violations, jumping traffic signals and parking in undesignated zones. The drive focused on major junctions, school premises, railway stations, hospital zones and areas near metro pillars.

“The public should report traffic rule violations they notice to the nearest police station or on the ‘Traffic Eye’ WhatsApp number, 6238100100,” the police said.
