Horticultural farmers of four mandals expressed concern over the steep fall in land prices due to the laying of electricity towers and lines in 11 villages from the proposed sub-station at Kottapalli village in Ganapavaram mandal, West Godavari district.

In a meeting with farmers of Undi, Bhimavaram, Palakoderu and Ganapavaram mandals on Monday, Joint Collector T. Rahul Kumar Reddy informed that as part of the sub-station project the electric towers and lines would pass through agricultural fields. Mr. Rahul Kumar assured the farmers better financial compensation for their land.

However, the farmers told Mr. Rahul that they would not part with their lands as the price would fall in the future. Most of the land, through which the electricity towers and lines are proposed to pass is under the cultivation of various horticulture crops.
