In a unique field inspection, District Collector Arjun Pandian on Saturday led a 40-km cycle rally along the Thrissur–Kunnamkulam road to directly assess the progress of ongoing renovation works. The rally covered the stretch from Ayyanthole Civil Station to Choondal and back.

The cycling initiative was organised to evaluate the pace and quality of the road development works being carried out under Kerla State Transport Project (KSTP). Notably, the Collector and his team had undertaken a similar cycling inspection on the same route in October 2024, when the road was in a severely deteriorated condition, to assess the ground realities.

Officials of the KSTP informed that the renovation works on the Thrissur–Kunnamkulam road are expected to be completed by February 20.

50 members

The rally was organised under the leadership of the Thrissur Cyclers Club, with around 50 club members joining the Collector during the ride.

To ensure close monitoring of the Thrissur–Kuttippuram KSTP road construction works, a coordination committee comprising departmental officials and elected representatives, formed under the chairmanship of the Collector, has been conducting monthly review meetings to track the project’s progress and address implementation issues.
