The Vidhana Soudha police have arrested a Group D employee for allegedly stealing a bag containing gold ornaments and cash from the office of the Urban Development and Town Planning Minister Byrathi Suresh.

300 gms of gold

According to the police, the complainant, Naveen, had visited the Minister’s office and inadvertently left behind his bag, which contained around 300 gm of gold jewellery and ₹1.5 lakh in cash. After realising that the bag was missing, he returned to the office the next day in search of the bag and later lodged a complaint with the Vidhana Soudha police.

Based on the complaint, the police verified CCTV footage from the premises and identified the suspect as Antony, a watch-and-ward staff member working at Vidhana Soudha. He was detained for questioning and reportedly confessed to the theft during interrogation.

Following his confession, the police recovered the stolen valuables and registered a case of theft against Antony.
