T.N. officials prepare for upcoming Census 2027 activities

A State-level video conference meeting was held on Tuesday with the participation of all District Collectors and Commissioners of Municipal Corporation, to brief them on the upcoming Census 2027 activities. Commissioner of Revenue Administration M. Saikumar, also the State Nodal Officer for Census, 2027 chaired the meeting.

During the session, the Commissioner of Revenue Administration (CRA) emphasised the critical nature of the exercise and provided a roadmap of the essential action points to be prioritized by the Collectors and Commissioners at the District and Corporation levels to ensure seamless execution, an official release said. Director of Census Operations, Tamil Nadu M. Sundaresh Babu provided a comprehensive technical briefing.

The historical legacy and socio-economic importance of the Census, legal provisions and statutory obligations governing the process, new features and methodology specifically designed for the 2027 Census, integration of advanced technology and digital platforms to enhance data accuracy and collection speed, were among those discussed during the meeting.

Krishnagiri and Tiruvallur Collectors shared their insights and learnings from the Census Pre-test, highlighting ground-level challenges and best practices for the main enumeration, it said.
