The Madras High Court on Thursday permitted the makers of Jana Nayagan to withdraw their earlier plea, clearing the way for the film to proceed through the CBFC revising committee route.

New Delhi:

The Madras High Court on Thursday allowed the makers of Jana Nayagan to withdraw their earlier plea, bringing a fresh turn in the film’s stalled certification process. The move comes after weeks of uncertainty surrounding the censor clearance of Vijay’s much-anticipated film. The makers told the court they would now follow the CBFC revising committee route. The hearing took place before Justice PT Asha and is being seen as the first concrete development after the film was sent back for re-examination earlier this year.

With the court permitting the withdrawal, the focus now shifts entirely to the revising committee. The film cannot release until the censor certificate is granted, keeping all release date speculation on hold for now. The delay has drawn heightened attention as Jana Nayagan is widely viewed as Vijay’s final film before his full-time political entry. For fans, Thursday’s order offers movement, but not closure, as the wait for a final certification decision continues.
