The International Kite Festival, which transformed the city into a vibrant cultural hub over two evenings with live concerts and indigenous games, concluded on February 8 night with an exuberant performance by playback singer Sonu Nigam.

On both February 7 and 8 night, the evening sky lit up with LED kites, creating a magical atmosphere and attracting a large audience to the cultural activities. During the day too, the fest attracted hundreds of visitors from all age groups.

On February 7, playback singers Shriraksha Uchila, Divya Ramachandra, and Jaskaran Singh entertained the audience. February 8 also saw an energetic performance by child prodigy Mahanya Patil and team, followed by the highlight of the evening, Mr. Nigam.

Scores of people participated in indigenous games, won prizes, and received certificates.

Artist Kenchappa Badiger created a live painting of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi during the event.

Addressing the huge gathering on February 8 evening, Mr. Joshi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called for providing opportunities to talented individuals who had not previously received a chance to participate in sports, leading to the launch of ‘Fit India’ and later, the ‘Khelo India’ initiative.

He added that the International Kite Festival was organised to promote culture. “Just as the kites soar high, India’s stature too should rise,” he said.
