Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh speaking after the laying of stone for Amaravati Quantum Valley, at Uddandarayunipalem in the capital region on Saturday.

Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT and Human Resources Development Nara Lokesh on Saturday said Amaravati was laying the foundation for India’s leadership in quantum technologies with the launch of the ambitious Amaravati Quantum Valley (AQV) project.

Speaking after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister of State (Independent charge) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh performed the ‘bhumi puja’ for the project, Mr. Lokesh described the initiative as a defining moment that would transform Andhra Pradesh from a technology consumer into a global creator of frontier innovations.

He said Amaravati Quantum Valley would create large-scale, high-quality, and future-ready jobs for the youth and position Amaravati among the world’s top quantum hubs.

Fourteen companies had signed MoUs with the State government to establish operations in the AQV, which would integrate hardware, software, algorithms, research, training and exports at one location.

Union Minister of State for Rural Development Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said Amaravati was being built not merely with infrastructure but with future technologies. He noted that quantum computing was emerging as a multi-billion-dollar global sector and that India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, was rapidly advancing through the National Quantum Mission. He said Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to build a quantum hub would strengthen applications in healthcare, energy, finance and supply chains, while creating a strong talent pipeline.

Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India and South Asia, said IBM looked forward to bringing advanced quantum computing technology to Amaravati, enabling researchers, academia and enterprises to access world-class capabilities and drive industry-wide breakthroughs.
