Annual sports competition for journalists on February 8

The annual sports competitions for journalists under the Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) will be held at the district stadium on February 8, Mallappa Sankin, president of KUWJ, said.

In a release, Mr. Sankin said that Superintendent of Police Prutwik Shankar would inaugurate the event.

Sharanappa Saladapur, Chairman of the Karnataka State Temperance Board; Baburao Kadlur, Chairman of the Yadgir Urban Development Board; and Bandappa Arali, president of the JD(S) city unit, will distribute awards to winners at the valedictory function on the same day.

He said that a ₹5,000 cash prize and trophy would be distributed to winners of kabadi, volleyball, and cricket, and a medal for runners-up.

Winners in shot put, 100-meter running competition, and the carrom and badminton single division competitions will be given a ₹1,000 cash prize and medals, he added.
