Actor-producer Maniyanpillai Raju is allegedly involved in a hit-and-run incident in Thiruvananthapuram that occurred late Thursday (February 5, 2026) in which two youths were injured after the actor’s car reportedly knocked down their motorcycle.

According to the Museum police, a case has been registered in connection with the accident, which occurred near Trivandrum Club at Vazhuthacaud around 10 p.m. The injured have been identified as Nivedith Krishna and Suraj, both natives of Thiruvananthapuram.

The police stated that the actor is suspected to have been driving the car at the time of the incident and allegedly fled the scene without stopping to check on the condition of the injured. The mishap reportedly occurred soon after the actor left the club and attempted a sudden U-turn towards Kowdiar, leading to a collision with a motorcycle travelling in the same direction.

The motorcyclists sustained serious leg and spinal injuries and were rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Mr. Raju has been directed to appear at the police station along with the car involved in the accident on Friday.

A case has been registered under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 125(a) (endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 134(A) (failure to provide emergency medical assistance to the injured) and 134(B) (failure to report the accident to the nearest police station) of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Car sustains damage

The actor’s car sustained damage in the accident. The police recovered a detached number plate and damaged bumper parts from the spot. Upon verification, the vehicle was found to be registered in the name of Sudheer Kumar Raju, which the police confirmed is the actor’s real name.
