The Kruthivennu police unearthed a counterfeit currency note racket and arrested four persons, allegedly involved in the crime. They seized fake currency notes with a face value of about ₹6 lakh, ₹6,000 in original currency notes and the electronic equipment used for printing the fake notes.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday (February 4), Superintendent of Police V. Viayasagar Naidu said the accused were identified as T. Ranjith Kumar of Narsipatnam, B. Uma Shankar of Srikakulam, A. Dileep and P. Rajasekhar, natives of Seetanapalli village, Krishna district. They were arrested by a team led by Kruthivennu Circle Inspector Nagendra Prasad.

The accused printed the counterfeit notes in Visakhapatnam district and were circulating them in different places in the State, the SP said.

“The main accused, Ranjith Kumar, was wanted in one ganja smuggling case and four counterfeit currency cases,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Machilipatnam, Ch. Raja, who heads special teams constituted to crackdown on counterfeit currency.
