Several farmers held a demonstration near Gun House Circle in Mysuru on February 2, demanding adequate compensation for agricultural land acquired by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) for development projects.
The farmers participating in the demonstration, organised under the leadership of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) leader Hoskote Basavaraj, held placards and shouted slogans in favour of their demands.
The farmers, who also submitted a memorandum to KIADB, demanded adequate compensation and employment opportunities for agricultural families that lost their land in Immavu village in Nanjangud due to the Film City project.
The agitating farmers also urged the authorities to provide suitable employment and residential sites to the farmers of Kocchanahalli village in Nanjangud, whose land was acquired for a golf course.
