Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) will construct a dedicated aviation turbine fuel (ATF) pipeline from its Malkapur installation to the fuel farm at GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL).
BPCL and GHIAL on Tuesday signed an agreement, for the facility, which the State-owned refiner described as a strategic collaboration aimed at ensuring reliable, efficient and environmentally sustainable fuel supply to one of India’s fastest-growing airports. The proposed ATF pipeline will span over 56 kilometres, including approximately one km within the airport premises.
Once operational, it will function on a common carrier basis, facilitating seamless and efficient transportation of aviation fuel while significantly reducing dependence on road-based fuel logistics, BPCL said in a release.
“This dedicated ATF pipeline reinforces our continued commitment to building robust, future-ready energy infrastructure while actively reducing carbon emissions by minimising road transportation of fuel,” said Sanjeev Kumar, business head-Aviation.
GHIAL CEO Pradeep Panicker said the partnership with BPCL on the development of a common-use fuel transportation pipeline aligns closely with the company’s vision of delivering cost-efficient and sustainable solutions.
CGM-Marketing (Aviation) of BPCL Sujit Kumar and chief commercial officer of GHIAL Ashish Kumar signed the agreement.
