A tiger that recently crossed into Telangana from neighbouring Maharashtra has put the Telangana Forest Department on high alert, with its movement traced across multiple districts including Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Jagtial, Kamareddy, Siddipet and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.
As per the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), it said, forest teams in these districts are maintaining round-the-clock monitoring of the animal. Officials are tracking its movement patterns and alerting nearby villages in advance with intensified surveillance and have issued strict advisories to ensure public safety and prevent panic in rural areas.
In addition to field staff deployed on a 24-hour basis, Forest officials said trap cages as a precaution have been kept ready, wildlife experts along with veterinary teams are on standby, and thermal drones will be deployed for night-time monitoring.
However, it advised people to remain calm, cooperate with officials, and avoid spreading rumours. Villagers have been advised to avoid unnecessary movement, especially during night hours, and to immediately inform the nearest forest officials if they receive any information regarding the animal’s movement. Authorities have also warned against the use of illegal electric fencing in agricultural fields.
In locations where livestock attacks have been reported so far, the Forest Department said it was coordinating with District Collectors and the police to prevent crowds from gathering. Various police teams are also coordinating the job to maintain law and order and to ensure safety protocols are followed.
