A GPS tracker has helped a 39-year-old woman track her stolen bag.
According to the police, the incident occurred on the 13th Main Road in Sadashivanagar on January 16 around 10.30 a.m.
The complainant, Asha Suparna, had parked her car on the roadside and stepped into a nearby coffee shop. She had reportedly forgotten to lock the vehicle, during which time an unidentified person opened the car door, stole a bag kept inside the vehicle and fled the spot.
The stolen bag contained ₹40,000 in cash, a wallet, mobile charger, medicines, house keys, ID cards, a notebook and other personal belongings. A GPS tracker installed in a key holder inside the bag helped the complainant trace its movement towards the Rajajinagar area.
The woman immediately approached the Sadashivanagar Police Station and alerted the police. Acting swiftly on the GPS location, the police, along with the complainant, traced the bag in Rajajinagar and recovered it with all the belongings intact.
The accused, identified as Prakash, was taken into custody and brought to the station.
