The ninth edition of the Kerala Literature Festival concluded here on Sunday (January 25, 2026). The four-day event featured several prominent authors as well as big names from other fields.
Among them were American astronaut Sunita Williams and Wikipedia’s Jimmy Wales. They both were featured in multiple sessions. Nobel laureate Abdulrazak Gurnah was another prominent name at the festival. Kiran Desai, Martin J. Goodman, Shashi Tharoor, Shobhaa De, Pico Iyer, Pratibha Ray and Daisy Rockwell were among the writers featured.
From sport, tennis star Rohan Bopanna and Olympian athlete Ben Johnson were there. Actor Prakash Raj, a regular face at the festival, attended this year, too. Actresses Rima Kallingal and Lena spoke, too. The country in focus waas Germany. Apart from writers, artistes also came from Germany. A German pavilion was set up at the venue.
Many prominent writers from Malayalam, such as M. Mukundan, K. Satchidanandan, C.V. Balakrishnan, K.R. Meera, Benyamin and K. Jayakumar also spoke at the festival.
