Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge has written to Union Panchayat Raj Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh requesting immediately release the pending 15th Finance Commission grants from the Union government for the gram panchayats of Karnataka.

Citing his previous letter sent on December 8, 2025, regarding the continuous delay, the Minister, in the letter, said that the Union government has been delaying the release of the grants for the financial year 2025-26, despite the State government’s timely submission of grant transfer certificates and Gram Panchayat Development Plans.

“As the present term of gram panchayats is set to conclude by January-February 2026, the absence of funds has severely constrained their ability to undertake development works. Karnataka has consistently been a forerunner in rural decentralisation and timely release of these grants is essential to sustain panchayat-level governance and enable completion of critical projects before the close of their term,” wrote Mr. Kharge.
