Minister for Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education Satya Kumar Yadav inaugurated the integrated command control centre at Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (Dr. NTRUHS) on Thursday, as part of the measures to ensure transparency during the medical education examinations.

Addressing the media, the Minister said the authorities can now monitor the UG and PG examinations at all 37 government and private medical colleges in the State from this centre through the footage of CCTVs installed in examination halls. Each medical college has 25 cameras.

These cameras are connected to the command control centre, ending the need for the colleges to send CCTV hard disks to the university every time after exams.

All the data recorded from CCTVs will be stored on computers in the command control room for up to 70 days, and advanced technology has been used to ensure that the recordings are not damaged, the Minister said.

At present, monitoring has begun in five colleges. First, students writing MBBS and PG course examinations will be monitored. It will be extended to other courses, including dental, Ayurveda, homeopathy and nursing later, the Minister said.

In case the CCTVs develop glitches, the command control room is alerted. Measures have been taken to ensure that visuals are available even if the internet connection is weak during an exam.

Dr. NTRUHS Vice-Chancellor P. Chandrasekhar said the centre has been set up at a cost of ₹30 lakh.
