Four persons were killed and three others seriously injured in a ghastly road accident involving a car and a container lorry at Bhainsa town in Nirmal district in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The mishap took place near the TGSRTC bus depot on the outskirts of Bhainsa, when a car coming from Hyderabad and a container lorry heading towards Bokar crossroads collided head-on in the small hours of the day.

The container lorry bearing Rajasthan’s registration number was moving at a high speed when the mishap occurred, sources said.

Four occupants of the car, including the driver, died on the spot.

Three others suffered multiple injuries under the impact of the collision.

One of them identified as Gangadhar, the recently elected sarpanch of Kupti gram panchayat, was admitted to a hospital in Nizamabad in a critical condition.

According to the police, the deceased were identified as Bhojaram Patil, 45, K. Rajanna, 60, B. Babanna, 65, and the car driver Vikas, 23.

They hailed from Kupti village in Kubeer mandal of Nirmal district.

They were returning to the village after visiting their ailing relative at a hospital in Hyderabad when they met with a tragic end.
