A 35-year-old goldsmith was murdered in a drunken brawl at Shameergunj in Chatrinaka on Sunday night.

The victim, Satish, who was married and had a young son, was known to the accused, a local resident identified as Jaichand. An officer from the Chatrinaka police said that his wife is eight months pregnant. Police said both men went separately to a local bar, where they consumed alcohol and later got into an argument.

The altercation reportedly escalated and turned violent around 10 p.m., resulting in Satish being killed. Preliminary investigation indicated that the two were acquaintances and the incident occurred following a heated exchange under the influence of alcohol.

Police have registered a murder case and are continuing the investigation.
