Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Sathyan Mokeri has urged the Election Commission of India (EC) to ensure that all eligible citizens find a place in the electoral roll under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

The EC should ensure that all eligible voters whose names were in the voters’ list published after the Special Summary Revision in September 2025 are included in the revised list, said Mr. Mokeri, who is State assistant secretary of the CPI, on Sunday (January 18, 2026).

Mr. Mokeri expressed deep concern over the fact that lakhs of people were excluded from the voters’ list in the State as part of the SIR. Instead of excluding people from the voters’ list citing technicalities, the EC should include all eligible citizens, maintaining the values of democracy, he said.

Alleging that the list being prepared through the SIR is full of flaws, he said dubious actions that deny a citizen’s right to vote cannot be justified in the democratic process.

Many citizens, including fishers and daily wage earners, face the threat of exclusion because they do not have age-proof documents to add their names, he alleged. This, he said is an insult to the democratic order of our country.
