The Bannerghatta Police have arrested Puneeth Kerehalli, a right-wing activist, on charges of trespassing into migrant workers’ homes and threatening them by demanding personal identity and property-related documents.

He also shared videos of his actions on social media, stating that the ‘operation’ is against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and condemned the government and the police for their inaction. The videos went viral, and even the opposition BJP leaders tagged in the videos blame the government’s inaction. Puneeth Kerehalli is a habitual offender and is booked under several cases, including murder.

After news of Puneeth Kerehalli’s arrest spread, his supporters attempted to gather near the police station. However, the police prevented them from assembling and maintained control of the situation. Anticipating possible law and order issues following the incident, the police had taken precautionary measures and made the necessary security arrangements.

Puneeth Kerehalli was produced before the court and was released on bail. Soon after getting out on bail, Kerehalli posted another video warning of severe consequences in the future.
